MK Dons are set to appoint Crawley Town manager Scott Lindsey as their new boss, talkSPORT understands.

Lindsey led the Red Devils to promotion from League Two via the play-offs last term, going up with Wrexham and Stockport County.

MK Dons lost manager Mike Williamson to League Two rivals Carlisle last week after the Cumbria side’s terrible start to the campaign.

After missing out on promotion after a play-off semi-final defeat to Crawley last term, MK currently sit 19th in League Two.

But talkSPORT understands Lindsey is set to drop back down to the fourth tier to guide MK back up the table.

Crawley and MK have struck an agreement which is expected to be announced on Wednesday.

That’s despite Crawley sitting 18th in League One following two wins, one draw and three losses to begin the season.

Crawley lost a number of stars over the summer, including Corey Addai and Liam Kelly, signing for Stockport and MK respectively.

More to follow.
