'Leeds United to replace Illan Meslier in January after Preston' - fans 'shock'

Illan Meslier is facing fresh calls to be dropped by Leeds United and replaced in the New Year after the “shocking” goal he conceded against Preston North End.
The goalkeeper has already come under fire on several occasions this season for some costly mistakes as the Whites battle to win promotion to the Premier League.
Victory over Middlesbrough in midweek had briefly put Daniel Farke’s side top of the Championship table, a result Meslier had celebrated with a message to his club’s supporters.
However, few Leeds fans were in the mood to show any sort of positivity towards him after what he did at Deepdale on Saturday (14 December).
Leeds fans want Illan Meslier gone after Preston error
After the visitors had struggled to break down the Preston defence in the early stages of the game, it was the hosts who took the lead 23 minutes into the game.
On the counter from a Leeds attack, a deep ball from Milutin Osmajic found Brad Potts at the far post, whose shot bounced into the ground to take some of the pace off it.
Although Meslier had to scramble across his line to get to it, the goalkeeper still managed to get hands to the ball, but was unable to stop the shot sneaking in at the far post.
Given the Frenchman arguably ought to have done better with that shot, many Leeds fans were furious with the 24-year-old as they took to social media, with plenty hoping for a change between the posts.
The Whites have been told to “get rid” of Meslier in the January window where a replacement is wanted because Karl Darlow is also not expected to be good enough, since he can’t get ahead of the “shocking” number one.
In other news, Leeds’ stance over a potential January move for Louie Barry has been revealed.
