Liverpool fans react as Jurgen Klopp finally lands new job by signing 'long-term' contract

Jurgen Klopp has finally decided to take the next step in his career after leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

The German tactician won the lot during his eight-and-a-half years in charge of the club and cited tiredness as one of the reasons behind his departure as he signaled his desire to take a break for a year or two.

However, it appears as he if has changed his mind, with Florian Plettenberg confirming that he has agreed a deal to join the Red Bull Group as their Global Head of Football.

Klopp is believed to have signed a ‘long-term’ contract and is set to officially begin on January 1st, 2025, with advice on coaching matters, transfers, and footballing philosophy some of the aspects he will have a say in.

The 57-year-old’s decision to take the job with Red Bull Group has garnered some interesting reactions on X, particularly from Liverpool fans.

One fan tweeted ‘This is such a good move for all parties involved, lovely,’ while another one said ‘A new chapter for Klopp has begun. I’m so happy for him.’

Plettenberg also confirmed that Klopp will have a break clause in his contract to move to the German national team in the future if Julian Nagelsmann decides to step down or gets sacked.

A few fans had their say on the break clause as they urged the German national team to part ways with Nagelsmann and appoint Klopp.

One fan wrote ‘Nagelsmann is overqualified for the national team, put him in Bayern and get Klopp in.’

And finally, there were a few Liverpool fans who simply wished their former boss well as he embarks on a new journey after his legendary spell at Anfield.

One fan wrote ‘Good Luck Boss!’ while another one said ‘Incredible moment for him.’

Jurgen Klopp changed Liverpool’s fortunes

Since replacing Brendan Rodgers at the helm in 2015, Klopp breathed new life into the club and embarked on a journey that saw him win seven major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League.

The German’s greatness, however, was due to his simplicity and how well he resonated with the club and the city.

Klopp’s new role is an interesting one, to say the least, and Liverpool fans will be relieved he hasn’t taken on another managerial role in Europe as that would open up the possibility of the Reds facing their former gaffer someday.
