Liverpool star sends Jhon Duran message after latest at Aston Villa

Jhon Duran took to social media to celebrate his goal as Aston Villa beat Man City and received a response from a Liverpool star.
The young striker has been enjoying a stellar season and added to his tally by scoring against the reigning Premier League champions on Saturday (21 December).
Duran's strike made it 2-0 on the day after former City graduate Morgan Rogers opened the scoring. The result solidified Villa's sixth-place position in the league, putting them just three points away from a Champions League spot under Unai Emery.
The 21-year-old has now racked up 12 goals this season, including memorable strikes against Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, further underlining his breakout campaign.
After the game, Duran posted on Instagram with a passionate caption: “There can be no failure, I sacrificed myself for this. 3 points at home, incredible fans, and one more goal! Good business today”.
His post drew admiration from teammates Diego Carlos, Youri Tielemans, and Ezri Konsa, who all left supportive comments. Liverpool forward and fellow countryman Luis Díaz also showed his appreciation, leaving fire emojis on the post.
Aston Villa can’t lose Jhon Duran
Football Insider opinion
The young Colombian's form has made him a key player in Villa's European push this season, and his performance against City only adds to his growing reputation.
Pundits continue to cast doubt on Duran, but his wicked left foot and the physical presence of a prototypical goalscoring number nine make him a standout talent.
However, Emery faces a challenge in keeping both Duran and Ollie Watkins satisfied with their roles.
The striker has already expressed a preference for being the first-choice striker rather than playing second fiddle, as revealed by Football Insider last month.
If his expectations aren't met, speculation about his future will only intensify.
Villa fans, however, see him as the solution upfront and have been vocal about their desire to build the team around him. His form recently with four goals in his last five games, has only reinforced their belief.
This surge in form is a remarkable turnaround, especially considering how close he was to leaving the club in the summer.
West Ham had entered discussions over a potential deal but ultimately withdrew due to concerns about the £40 million fee. The East London club has since lived to regret that decision, as their preferred alternative, Niclas Füllkrug, has struggled for fitness.
Now appearing settled at Villa, Duran is proving his worth as a key asset for the Birmingham-based club. His start against Manchester City further solidified his status as a player capable of becoming one of the league's best strikers.
In other news, Michael Owen has criticised Aston Villa supporters in their last game.
