Michael Owen has 'huge news' on Trent Alexander-Arnold after 'secretive talks'

Michael Owen believes it’s “only a matter of time” before Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold joins Real Madrid after their latest offer.
The 26-year-old is one of three key Liverpool players, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who are out of contract at the end of the season.
Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants all season and Real Madrid made their intentions known as soon as the January transfer window opened.
Real Madrid reportedly enquired about the right-back’s availability on New Year’s Eve, which Liverpool rejected out of hand as they’re unwilling to part with Alexander-Arnold mid-way through the season.
The England international has been a massive player under Arne Slot, starting 22 of his 23 games across all competitions, scoring one goal, and providing five assists in his 1771 minutes of action.

The 45-year-old, who started his career at Liverpool before leaving to join Real Madrid believes the Merseyside club are resigned to a similar fate with Alexander-Arnold.
Owen took to X, formally known as Twitter, to give his opinion on the rumours, saying: “The very fact that Real Madrid have now made their intentions clear towards signing Trent Alexander Arnold leads me to believe that it's only a matter of time before he signs for them.”
“If he was going to sign a contract extension, Madrid wouldn't have officially made their move. Secretive talks will have taken place. Huge news.”
Slot will no doubt be hoping his right-back can put the rumours regarding his future to one side as they sit top of both the Premier League and the new Champions League league phase.
