Arsenal and Manchester City’s draw on the weekend may now be in the history books but the game is still being talked about.

It was the battle of the two sides who have gone at it over the last two seasons at the very top of the Premier League table.

And Arsenal almost sealed all three points before conceding late on in the game to see Pep Guardiola‘s side claim a point.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping the Gunners can go one step further this season and finally get their hands on the Premier League title.

They may have just seen their chances of lifting the title increase over the weekend after Manchester City suffered the injury to Rodri.

What Pep Guardiola said about Arsenal and Rodri

One of the big incidents on Sunday at the Etihad was the injury sustained by midfielder Rodri during the early stages of the game.

It appears as if the Spain international could be set for some significant time on the sidelines due to what is seemingly a ligament issue.

The injury occured after the early interactions between some Arsenal players and Rodri which has seen some claim the midfielder was targeted.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday after their Carabao Cup victory over Watford, Guardiola shut down the claim of Arsenal targeting Rodri during the game.

“No,” Guardiola quickly replied.

“I didn’t speak with him [Rodri] but hopefully not. He’d think the same as me. And with Mikel because after the game we text eachother and the relationship does not change anything.

“They decide to play in the way is more than perfect. I never justify it. I would not be able to do it but they were brilliant.”

Sunday showed Arsenal have closed the gap on Manchester City

The reaction from the City players after the game showed the huge pressure which is being put on them now at the top of the league.

City players and staff naturally celebrated the last-minute equaliser but there was a bitterness to celebrations on display.

And that certainly spilled over after the game with the tension between the two sides clear for all to see.

If Manchester City did not believe Arsenal were a real threat to their dominance at the top then surely there would not have been the same reaction after the game.
