Reece James shares injury update in new message after confirmed Chelsea news

Chelsea captain Reece James has taken to social media to send an update to the fans after returning to the squad.
The 25-year-old was included in the squad for Chelsea’s shock 2-0 Premier League defeat to Ipswich on Monday (December 30) but didn’t make it off the bench.
James has already missed 21 games across all competitions for his club this season after picking up two separate hamstring injuries.
The right-back’s first setback came in pre-season before he made a temporary return, playing four games before picking up a similar injury in training in late November.
Defeat to Ipswich saw Chelsea miss out on the opportunity to move into second a close the gap on league leaders Liverpool, now sitting in fourth, just three points ahead of Newcastle.

James’ injury issues mean he’s barely featured for Enzo Maresca, starting three of his four appearances across all competitions and failing to make a goal contribution in his 241 minutes of action.
With understudy Malo Gusto also on the sidelines, Axel Disasi was chosen to fill in at right-back against Ipswich with little success.
Disasi, who is primarily a centre-back, was hooked off in the 77th minute having failed to win a single tackle and was at fault for Omari Hutchinson’s goal that secured all three points for Ipswich.
James has since taken to Instagram to share an image of himself training, originally posted by the official Chelsea account, saying: “Happy New Year.”
Without a win in their last three Premier League games, James’ return to fitness could prove pivotal in Chelsea’s ultimate mission to secure Champions League qualification.
Maresca’s side will travel to South London to face Crystal Palace in their first game of the new year on Saturday (January 4).
