On paper, most players in the world would likely make a move to Arsenal over Aston Villa.

Arsenal, alongside Manchester United and Liverpool are widely considered the three biggest clubs in the Premier League — with the sheer stature of an institution often playing a role in a player’s decision to put pen to paper.

Furthermore, Mikel Arteta’s side are challenging for the league title in their third consecutive season and have a 10-point gap over Aston Villa.

Taking such factors into account, the Gunners have an advantage over Villa in their pursuit for Rosenborg sensation Sverre Nypan.

Arsenal have held a meeting with Nypan already, who is one of Europe’s most naturally talented young midfielders.

Why Aston Villa think they can beat Arsenal to Sverre Nypan transfer

Arsenal are considered favourites to land Nypan, who was initially looking likely to become a Manchester United player.

Gunners target Nypan is valued at £10 million and it seems like a long queue of clubs are convinced that if they sign the Norwegian, he could prove to be an outstanding bargain.

But the Independent have now reported that while Arsenal are pushing to sign the 18-year-old, Aston Villa are providing them heated competition.

Villa believe that they can offer a “persuasive package” and the prospect of regular first-team football far more quicker than Mikel Arteta and Co can.

Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Nypan and they will indeed be devastated if his heart is now set on a move to Villa Park. TBR Football also revealed Arsenal’s confidence about sealing a deal for Nypan.

Martin Odegaard tried to convince Sverre Nypan to join Arsenal

Martin Odegaard tried convincing Nypan to join Arsenal instead of Manchester United, who is similarly diminutive and technically gifted to him.

The report also mentioned that the offer presented by Mikel Arteta’s side to bring the teenager to the Emirates Stadium has caught his eye.

Nypan was pictured at the Etihad Stadium during Manchester City’s 3-1 win against Chelsea amid being linked to sign for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Whether a twist in the tale occurs and the sought-after youngster indeed signs for Aston Villa will be interesting to see unfold.
