Liverpool weren’t able to secure the services of Martin Zubimendi in the summer transfer window, and it now appears as if they’ve found a new name to add to the list.

Arne Slot has made things work quite nicely for Liverpool despite making just two summer signings.

Giorgi Mamardashvili won’t be with the Reds until next season as he’s set to spend the remainder of the current campaign on loan at Valencia.

Meanwhile, Federico Chiesa is set for his first start for Liverpool against West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, which will give Slot a good look at the Italian’s current condition.

The attacker has had limited minutes at Liverpool since joining as they work to bring him up to speed, with the challenges of the Premier League often proving too much for some players.

Interestingly, it appears as if the Reds have their eyes on another potential addition…

Liverpool have been talking about ‘world-class’ player behind-the-scenes

Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards know exactly what they’re doing, so Arne Slot won’t be too worried that he failed to sign a number six in the summer window, as Ryan Gravenberch has filled in nicely.

Gravenberch has been compared to Patrick Vieira in recent times, which shows just how well he’s been playing this season.

Interestingly, it appears as if Liverpool are still looking to sign a number six, despite the rise in form of the Dutchman.

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool have been talking about Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich.

The report states that Liverpool remain in the market for a midfielder after failing to sign Martin Zubimendi in the summer.

Zubimendi is still appreciated by Arne Slot and other key figures at Liverpool, but Kimmich is also a name who has come up as he could be a superb and affordable option for the club.

Pep Guardiola’s love for Joshua Kimmich

Pep Guardiola was Kimmich’s manager at Bayern Munich back in 2016, and after a game at Signal Iduna Park he said this:

"I told him that he’s perhaps one of the best centre-backs in the world.” and later said: "I love this boy."

It has also been stated earlier on this year (as per Caught Offside) that Pep Guardiola would love Joshua Kimmich at Manchester City.

Liverpool will likely face competition for Kimmich, who has been hailed as a ‘world-class’ player, especially with his experience and affordable price tag.
