'We must thank West Ham' – Media mock Hammers for transfer, sounds like sour grapes

Jean-Clair Todibo’s start to life at West Ham has been slow but is gradually picking up.

In the past few weeks, defender has become a regular in the Hammers backline.

Unfortunately, the Frenchman put the ball in his own net against Tottenham, as West Ham picked up a 4-1 defeat at the hands of their London rivals.

In the summer, Todibo was the subject of serious interest from Juventus but the Bianconeri wouldn’t pay Nice’s asking price, allowing Julen Lopetegui’s side to capitalise.

This led to Juve signing Pierre Kalulu from rivals AC Milan and he has impressed so far for the club, playing at both right-back and centre-back.

TuttoJuve have now mocked West Ham for playing a role in their successful signing of Kalulu.

A report from the outlet says: ‘Finally, we must thank West Ham who insisted on Todibo, allowing Juventus to save 30m and invest 2/3 of it on the French player, like him.’

They go on to hail Kalulu’s performance against Lazio, suggesting that they signed a better player than Todibo for a lower fee than what West Ham paid.

They will sign Kalulu permanently for a fee of about €14m soon and the player has been described as a 'humble' character who is reliable defensively and also plays a role in the construction of attack.

It all feels like sour grapes, and Todibo can use it as motivation to succeed at West Ham.
