West Ham are stepping up their pursuit of a new striker as we get closer to the February 3rd transfer deadline.

TBR Football understand West Ham are set to part ways with Tim Steidten – Technical Director at the London Stadium – after Graham Potter opted to bring Kyle Macaulay in as Head of Recruitment.

Sources state that those in the boardroom at West Ham were particularly dissatisfied by the signings of Niclas Fullkrug and Luis Guilherme – both made by the German.

Now – as Tim Steidten steps away from recruitment – West Ham are pushing to sign Andre Silva on loan from RB Leipzig, and have another interesting talent in mind as an alternative option.

West Ham considering move for Brian Brobbey if Andre Silva agreement fails to materialise

Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany has now revealed that West Ham are keen to sign the Portugal international on loan for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign.

However – with other Bundesliga clubs keen on Silva ahead of “decisive” negotiations on Friday – Ajax No.9 Brian Brobbey is also being considered.

Plettenburg wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “BREAKING | West Ham now pushing to sign RB Leipzig striker Andre Silva on a six-month loan! New talks today. Decisive round of negotiations scheduled for Friday. Some Bundesliga clubs are also keen on Silva. If a move for Silva fails, Brian Brobbey (Ajax) is an option West Ham are considering. Decision soon.”

TBR Football exclusively revealed that West Ham want Silva almost two weeks ago – so in that respect, let’s take a look at what Brobbey could offer if the Irons fail to find an agreement with RB Leipzig.

Graham Potter could sign a huge aerial threat in Brian Brobbey

Despite standing at 5ft 11in – hardly a giant – Brobbey is believed to have a greater leap than Cristiano Ronaldo of all strikers.

It was Johnny Heitinga who made this claim after working with the Netherlands international at Ajax, telling Marca: "At 16 years old he weighed 91 kilos – he was 1.80 meters tall – and he was the fastest in the Academy. He covered 30 meters in 3.7 seconds. With one leg he jumped more than Cristiano Ronaldo."

Brobbey – who cost Ajax £13.8m back in July 2022 – has put these physical attributes to good use, scoring 52 goals in 147 appearances for the Dutch giants.

Brobbey has even been praised by Virgil van Dijk – with the Liverpool No.4 previously calling his fellow countryman a “great” forward.
