Bolton Wanderers travel south to face Crawley Town as another weekend of League One action awaits.

Bolton Wanderers are up against a managerless Crawley Town side this weekend.

The Red Devils have been left without a boss after Scott Lindsey left to assume the vacant post at League Two side MK Dons, the side Town dismantled in the play-off semi-finals last year. As such, recently retired midfielder and first-team coach Ben Gladwin will lead the side.

Crawley have taken seven points from six games so far but their task of staying up looks to have got tougher with Lindsey gone.

As for Bolton Wanderers, their focus switches back to league action after their midweek Carabao Cup exploits. Ian Evatt’s side faced Arsenal, and while the Gunners ran out 5-1 winners, Aaron Collins’ goal gave fans something to celebrate.

The Trotters’ start to the season has gone far from how they had hoped but after thrashing Reading last weekend, it will be hoped their form has turned.

Dion Charles scored a first-half hat-trick on the way to a 5-2 victory over the Royals.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

Crawley Town come into this one a wounded animal after losing Lindsey. It remains to be seen just how telling this proves to be, but his exit looks to be a major blow to their hopes.

Bolton Wanderers will be looking to capitalise on that, though the hosts could come out fighting as they look to prove they’ll fare fine without their popular boss.

“That will be something for the visitors to be wary of. And, we’ve seen how poor Wanderers can be on their day, though that Reading triumph might mark the start of a turnaround.

“With Crawley managerless and spirits boosted a bit at Bolton, I’m leaning towards an away win.”

Prediction: Crawley Town 1-2 Bolton Wanderers

Who is the manager of Blackpool?

Harry Mail

“Losing Lindsey was a massive blow for Crawley Town and they need to make sure that they get their next appointment right.

Bolton Wanderers picked up a much needed win at home to Reading last time out in the league and that was an important result for them.

“It has eased some pressure off Evatt and they need to make sure that they build on that and hit some form now.

“This won’t be an easy game for the Trotters and they may need to be patient. However, in the end I fancy them to get all three points.”

Prediction: Crawley Town 0-1 Bolton Wanderers
