Bolton Wanderers defender Chris Forino has sustained a hamstring injury and is poised to be sidelined until after the next international break, as per a report by The Bolton News.

Bolton Wanderers’ centre-back suffered the setback in their recent Carabao Cup away loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. They were beaten 5-1 by the Premier League giants, with Aaron Collins on the scoresheet.

Forino, 24, is now facing a spell in the treatment room which is a blow for the Trotters and means they will have to make changes at the back. He is being given a scan on Friday afternoon which will determine the true extent of the damage.

Speaking ahead of their trip to Crawley Town this weekend, boss Ian Evatt has shared this update, as per a report by The Bolton News: “He is having a scan but we’re expecting a pretty significant injury but we can’t give any more detail than that.”

Bolton Wanderers injury blow

Forino’s presence will be missed by Bolton Wanderers over the coming weeks as they look to hit some form.

It has been a slow start to the campaign for the North West outfit and they are aiming to rise up the table over the coming weeks and months.

They reached the play-off final last term but were beaten by Oxford United at Wembley.

The Trotters snapped up Forino over the summer to add more competition and depth to their defensive department.

He spent the past three years at fellow third tier club Wycombe Wanderers and was a key player for the Chairboys.

Forino joined them back in 2021 and went on to make 90 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with eight goals from the back.

What now?

Bolton Wanderers will have to make do without him ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

They won 5-2 at home to Reading last time out in the league and will aim to build some momentum now.

The Trotters take on a Crawley Town side this weekend who are without a permanent boss at the moment after Scott Lindsey left for MK Dons.
