Barnsley goalkeeper Jackson Smith has extended his loan at Grimsby Town by a further seven days, as announced by the Mariners’ official club website.

Barnsley let the stopper join the League Two side on an emergency basis at the start of October and he has since featured for them against Gillingham, Doncaster Rovers and Salford City, as well as Lincoln City in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

Smith, 23, will now play again for David Artell’s men in their upcoming home clash against Walsall on Saturday. They are currently sat in 8th place in the table and are only outside the play-offs on goal difference behind Bradford City.

In this latest update regarding the stopper’s situation, Grimsby Town have confirmed that he will be sticking around at Blundell Park for another seven days. He was brought in following an injury sustained by Jake Eastwood and he was handed the number 31 shirt.
