Charlton Athletic striker Dan Kanu will miss their clash this weekend, as detailed in a report by London News Online.

Charlton Athletic are back in League One action following the international break with a home game against Stockport County. They beat Birmingham City 1-0 at The Valley in their last outing with striker Matty Godden on the scoresheet.

Kanu, 19, has picked up a calf issue and will now have to sit out against the Hatters. He has made eight appearances so far this season, six of which have come in the league, but he hasn’t managed to score yet.

In this latest selection update, London News Online report he is sidelined right now, whilst midfielder Conor Coventry is suspended. Meanwhile, the Addicks will have to make checks on Gassan Ahadme and their boss Nathan Jones has said: “We have got to be careful with Gassan. It was a blow to his body – it’s not a typical footballing injury. We’ve just got to make sure he is right before we put him back in. Whether that is Saturday or further down the line is another thing. It is touch and go with him.”

Charlton Athletic will hope that Kanu can return as soon as possible.

Kanu joined his current club back in 2014 and has since risen up through their academy.

He has been a regular for the Addicks at various different youth levels and was handed his first professional deal back in 2022.

The teenager made his first-team debut in the same year against Wigan Athletic.

Kanu hasn’t looked back since and has since played 58 times for Charlton Athletic, finding the net on eight occasions.

He was loaned out to Southend United in the National League during the last campaign to get some more experience under his belt and scored four goals in six games during his time at Roots Hall.

What now?

Kanu is under contract with the Addicks until the summer of 2027.

Jones’ side could rise into the play-offs on Saturday if they are able to beat Stockport County.
