Bristol Rovers have identified Michael Wimmer as their leading managerial candidate, according to a report by BristolLive.
Bristol Rovers are interested in luring the German over to England in the near future following their decision to sack Matt Taylor. They are currently sat in 20th place in the League One table after a poor run of form and they are only two points above the drop zone.
Wimmer, 44, cut ties with Austria Wien back in May after a year-and-a-half with the Austrian Bundesliga club. He has since been weighing up his options in the game and is now wanted in a new country this winter.
In this latest update regarding the Gas’ hunt for Taylor’s replacement, BristolLive claim Wimmer has emerged on their radar. It remains to be seen how long the process of trying to land him will take due to the fact he will need a work permit.
