RC Lens sporting director Diego Lopez has confirmed that Jorge Mendes has been mandated to sell Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur target Abdukodir Khusanov (20).
The Telegraph have already evoked an interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, however, Premier League interest in the centre-back is growing. Manchester City and Leicester City have now also joined the race, according to L’Équipe, whilst RB Leipzig are also tracking Khusanov. Foot Mercato understands that Paris Saint-Germain's sporting director Luís Campos has already met the player's entourage, whilst Atletico Madrid are also in the race, according to Mohamed Toubache-Ter.
There is plenty of interest in the Uzbekistan international and Lens are willing to sell, having failed to raise funds in the summer. Speaking to L’Équipe, Les Sang et Or’s sporting director Lopez has confirmed that agent Mendes has been given a mandate to find a destination for Khusanov.
“We decided to do it (give the mandate). We put all the options on the table. We analysed a lot and decided with Pierre (Dréossi, Lens’ CEO) to sign a mandate. It came from an analysis of the internal market, the price of a transfer, and lots of other factors,” said Lopez. Lens want between €25-30m for the defender.
