Negotiations to extend Éric Roy's contract at Brest to begin in February

Negotiations to extend Éric Roy’s contract as manager of Stade Brestois 29 are set to begin at the end of February or early in March, according to a report from L’Équipe. The former Nice head coach’s contract at the Stade Francis Le Blé is set to expire at the end of the season.
After an 11-year break from being a head coach, things couldn’t have gone better for Roy after being appointed as manager of Les Pirates in January 2023. Leading the Breton club to a 3rd place finish in Ligue 1 last term, Brest qualified for the Champions League and have enjoyed a terrific start to life in UEFA’s premier club continental competition.
Both parties remain calm about the situation despite the expiry of the former Watford sporting director’s contract fast approaching. Initial informal conversations between Roy and Lorenzi have been positive and all signs point towards an extension. The length of contract and salary remain to be decided but an offer will be made following the play-off round of the Champions League.
