Cardiff City have discussed Reading boss Ruben Selles as an option for their vacant managerial post, according to Wales Online.

Cardiff City are on the lookout for a new boss after deciding to part ways with Erol Bulut.

The decision was made to relieve the Turkish manager of his duties last month following a dismal start to the new campaign. The Bluebirds have won one, lost one and drawn one of the three games under interim boss Omer Riza but remain rooted to the bottom of the Championship table.

Riza has spoken of his intention to stake a claim for the permanent job but the South Welsh outfit have been weighing up options with the hope of making an appointment during the international break.

Now, a new name has emerged on the Cardiff City radar.

According to Wales Online, Reading boss Ruben Selles is among those to have been discussed by the Championship club. The Spaniard has impressed in near-impossible circumstances with the Royals, not only keeping them up amid ownership wrangles, but keeping them competitive.
