Cardiff City make enquiry for Peterborough United star

Cardiff City have made an enquiry regarding Peterborough United forward Ricky-Jade Jones, according to Football League World.
Cardiff City have had a poor first half of this season, sitting 23rd in the league after 25 games right in the midst of the relegation battle.
The Bluebirds have struggled in front of goal so far this season scoring just 25 goals. Callum Robinson is the club’s scorer with eight goals to his name but after that, the highest scorer is Alex Robertson with just three.
This is something that the club must address in the January window, and it seems an early move has been made.
According to Football League World, Cardiff City have made an enquiry to League One side Peterborough United ahead of a potential move for forward Ricky-Jade Jones.
Jones has been highly-rated by Posh since his academy days but given the poor season that they are enduring, this could be the year he finally departs. His contract is up at the end of the season but he will still command a decent fee this winter given his status as a homegrown player.
The forward has been linked with several Championship clubs over the years but Cardiff City have now made their move as they look to bolster their ranks.
Experienced for his age
Jones would be a very shrewd addition for Cardiff City. While the forward is just 22, he has racked up a huge amount of senior appearances.
He broke into the Posh first-team in 2019, making his debut at 17. Since then, Jones has made 176 appearances for the club, scoring 37 goals during that period – 11 of which have come this season alongside three assists.
The forward is part of an exciting trio with Malik Mothersille and Kwame Poku up front, whose best efforts still haven’t been able to inspire a successful season for Darren Ferguson’s side.
Hard negotiators
Despite Jones’ contract status, Posh will still get the best possible fee out of Cardiff City.
Peterborough United are known to be a very hard negotiator and have acquired some top fees over the years. Sammie Szmodics, Ivan Tony and Britt Assombalonga are just three of several players the club have sold for big fees in the third tier.
The Bluebirds will be aware of this face and likely be prepared for some tough dealings with the League One side.
