Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has said George Evans is ‘back’ from injury ahead of their festive fixtures.

Evans, 30, has been sidelined for the League One side over recent times but is now poised to play again.

In this latest update regarding his condition, Parkinson has said, as per a report by The Leader: “George is back from injury and he played. He was just getting ready to contribute and then he had the injury against Stevenage so it’s good to see him back.

“We will just have a good look at George and he could be in contention over the festive period. He’s been training for about seven to 10 days and looks in good shape.”

The Red Dragons are back in action this weekend with an away trip to Bristol Rovers.

Having Evans back is a big boost for Wrexham and he gives them another option to pick from.

He picked up ankle ligament damage back in October in their match against Stevenage. At the time, Parkinson told The Leader“George’s injury looks a serious one which is a shame for him. He had a bit of a disjointed start to the season and just got himself back in good shape ready to compete for his place.

“It was an innocuous incident, the lad has almost fallen on him and we really feel for George. It looks like he is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.”

The Red Dragons signed the Mancunian in September 2023 to bolster their ranks and he penned a two-year deal.

Evans helped his current club win promotion from League Two last season along with Stockport County, Mansfield Town and Crawley Town.

The Manchester City academy graduate saw his deal extended by the Red Dragons this past summer which shows he is highly-rated.

Evans played once for the first-team during his time at the Etihad Stadium as a youngster and was loaned out to Crewe Alexandra, Scunthorpe United and Walsall to get some experience under his belt in the Football League.

City sold him to Reading in 2016 and he went on to have further spells with Derby County and Millwall before linking up with Wrexham.

What now?

Wrexham are sat in 3rd place in the table behind Wycombe Wanderers and Birmingham City.

They have a decision to make on when to throw Evans back into the team.
