Bradford City and AFC Wimbledon meet this weekend in a League Two clash between two clubs hoping to mount a play-off push at the least.

Bradford City are in their first full season under the lead if manager Graham Alexander and after coming up short in their late charge for the top seven last time around, the goal for this year is clear.

The Bantams will be determined to mount a serious push for promotion and they’ve started fairly well. 10 points from six games has them sat in 7th, though they’ll be out for an improved performance here.

Last time out, the Yorkshire outfit were beaten 2-1 by Walsall, who have enjoyed a strong start to the 2024/25 campaign.

As for AFC Wimbledon, wins don’t get much sweeter than their triumph last weekend.

They cruised past vicious rivals MK Dons on home turf in the first meeting between the two this season. Callum Maycock scored twice and Myles Hippolyte bagged on the way to a comfortable 3-0 home win over Williamson’s side.

Johnnie Jackson and co have won four of their first five games, including all of their last three. The Dons occupy 5th in the table as a result.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Bradford City might have started in a fairly decent manner but it’s safe to say that the wind is in the visitors’ sails coming into this one. Not only are they in form, but they’re off the back of a big win over their rivals, so spirits will be high as the Dons travel north.

AFC Wimbledon will be acutely aware of how tough games at Valley Parade. The Bantams are yet to taste defeat on home turf in the league and while a return to winning ways will be wanted, a point would mark a good outcome.

“In fact, it’s probably an outcome both sides would be satisfied with. If I had to pick a winner, I’d lean towards the Dons because of the momentum behind them.

“However, I think the hosts get a decent result. I’ll go for a 1-1 draw.”

Prediction: Bradford City 1-1 AFC Wimbledon

Bradford City are hoping that this is the year that they claw themselves out of League Two after they missed out on the play-offs last season.

“The Bantams lost 2-1 away at Walsall last time out and need to bounce back with a home win over AFC Wimbledon.

“The Dons will be in good spirits after seeing off their rivals MK Dons last time out and could prove to be tricky opponents at Valley Parade.

“There isn’t too much to split these two teams and it is still early on in the season. One goal either way could do it but I’m edging more towards Bradford City based on the fact they have home advantage.”

Prediction: Bradford City 2-1 AFC Wimbledon
