Nantes to stick with Antoine Kombouaré following failed talks with Sérgio Conceição and Habib Beye

L’Équipe understands that FC Nantes have made the decision to stick with Antoine Kombouaré. It was always expected that he would be in the dugout for today’s Coupe de France encounter with Drancy JA, however, it was expected that he would cede his place during the winter break.
To that end, Nantes held talks with former manager Sérgio Conceição over a surprise return. The Portuguese manager had been absent since leaving Porto. He rejected a return, which saw Les Canaris explore a move for Habib Beye. He left Red Star in the summer after earning the Paris-based club promotion back to Ligue 2. However, there were sticking points regarding his background staff. One rejected a move to the Beaujoire, and another, still under contract at Red Star, was difficult to attain.
As a result, Nantes pulled out of their move for Beye. Without any other alternatives, by default, Kombouaré will remain in his post. It means that, as things stand, he will still be on the sidelines when Nantes face Lille OSC on 4th January.
