Liverpool are yet to sign anyone in January, but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from linking with a host of players across Europe.

Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia emerged as a target for Liverpool, but the Georgian international is very close to joining PSG after a fantastic spell with Napoli in Serie A.

The Reds’ attack is their strongest suit – at least on paper – but they have constantly been linked with reinforcements in that position, which is interesting, to say the least.

Rayan Cherki is another player who has keen admirers at Anfield, with the Frenchman impressing for Lyon this season.

And if reports are to be believed, the Ligue 1 side appear to have dropped a clear hint that Cherki could be on the move in January.

After graduating from the Lyon academy, the gifted youngster has become a bit of a household name in world football and has been linked with a host of clubs across Europe.

Cherki is valued at around £25m, making him a market opportunity for Liverpool to pounce.

Liverpool already have Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa, but the Frenchman could add something different to their team as he can also play as a number ten and is left-footed.

Cherki’s name has been doing rounds for a while now, but according to Rudy Galetti, Lyon are open to offers for him this month, although they are yet to receive a formal offer for him.

He wrote on X: “OL are open to evaluating offers for Cherki, but no concrete bid has been made for him.

“Atalanta remain interested in the player and continue to monitor the situation. Rayan, for his part, prefers to wait for other clubs before making a decision.

Cherki’s stats this season

With five goals and eight assists this season, Cherki’s unique ability to score goals and create them in equal proportion makes him an intriguing option for the Reds.

Additionally, his age coupled with his price tag means he is too good a market opportunity to refuse.

Over the years, Liverpool have swiftly swooped if such opportunities came by, so don’t be surprised if Michael Edwards and co made a move for Cherki between now and the end of the January transfer window.
