Andy Robertson tells Ryan Gravenberch to 'give it a rest' after what he did against Wolves today

Liverpool were not at their best but still managed to earn a hard-fought win over Wolves on Saturday.

The Reds knew they could go top of the Premier League with a win at Molineux after Man City dropped points against Newcastle.

But that was easier said than done as it turned out, with Liverpool a shadow of the team that blew West Ham away on Wednesday.

In fairness, it actually was a completely different side from Wednesday to Saturday. Only Diogo Jota kept his place as Arne Slot shuffled his Liverpool squad around.

But whoever is on the pitch at the moment, it seems to be inevitable that Ryan Gravenberch will end up being the player who catches the eye the most.

Gravenberch earned another man of the match award for his display at Wolves. Not everyone was happy about it after the game, though.

Andy Robertson reacts to Ryan Gravenberch award

Post-game even Slot admitted to being surprised by Gravenberch this season. The Dutchman has been different class.

This has led to all sorts of praise for Gravenberch who has been picking up man of the match awards like they’ve been going out of fashion.

Ibrahima Konate was not happy about this on Saturday, calling out chief judge Gary Neville live on Sky Sports.

Konate felt he deserved the award for a dominating goal-scoring display, and joked that Neville had made a big mistake by selecting Gravenberch instead.

And it looks like the Frenchman was not the only one to notice just how much love there is for Liverpool’s No.38 right now.

Taking to his Instagram stories after the game, Andy Robertson posted a picture of Gravenberch with his player of the match award in the changing rooms.

“Give it a rest,” wrote Robertson, along with a sleeping emoji, obviously tongue in cheek.

Trent Alexander-Arnold weighed in too, although the right-back was more complimentary in his assessment. “Man of the moment,” wrote Trent, with Gravenberch grinning away on the photo.

Ryan Gravenberch is the talk of the town

Clearly, Robertson is joking with this one. Gravenberch has become so good that it is just becoming too predicatble.

Liverpool supporters will not mind that one bit, though. And the 22-year-old is signalling that he is ready to become the main man in the Reds midfield.

So far, he has been part of a really good collective along with Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.

But Szoboszlai and Mac Allister were way off the pace against Wolves. The Hungarian missed a glorious chance at 0-0, while the No.10’s passing was all over the place.

In the midst of all of that, Gravenberch stood firm again to emerge as the game’s outstanding player. Even if it sends Robbo to sleep, we hope that continues for some time yet.
