Liverpool came through an awkward game against Wolves on Saturday night to move to the top of the Premier League table.

The Reds had the chance to leap-frog Manchester City into first place after Pep Guardiola’s side drew against Newcastle earlier in the day.

Although it was far from pretty at times for Liverpool at Molineux, they ultimately got the job done.

Goals from Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah – and another man of the match display from Ryan Gravenberch – helped them to the three points.

While the performance in general may need evaluating so as to guard against it happening again, it was a day of plenty of positives for Liverpool in the Premier League.

Speaking after the match, though, Arne Slot suggested that there had been one small negative from the Reds’ day in the West Midlands.

Arne Slot offers Andy Robertson update

Liverpool will certainly have to be better than they were against Wolves if they have any designs on winning the Premier League title.

But the positives from the day are that three points are in the bag and that everyone stayed fit. Nearly everyone, that is, actually.

Andy Robertson was forced off the field in the dying minutes of the game after a very late challenge from Carlos Forbs.

With so little time left, Slot did not take any risks with Robertson, who limped off to be replaced by Joe Gomez.

It looked a slightly nasty tackle from Forbes and so there was understandable worry over Liverpool’s left-back.

However, speaking in his post-match press conference, although Slot did confirm that Robertson had picked up a ‘knock,’ the Liverpool head coach did not expect it to be anything serious at all.

“I don’t expect this to be a big problem, although you never know, but I think he just got a knock,” said Slot. “End phase of the game, maybe he was a bit tired as well because the guy who came in – Forbs, I knew him, of course, from the Dutch competition – he made it a real fight for him.

“He got a bit of a knock but I’m expecting him to be in training on Monday again, but let’s wait.”

Were there any other injury issues?

Robertson going off did have the potential to put a cloud over what was eventually a good day for Liverpool.

The £10m man has started every Premier League game so far and although Kostas Tsimikas has done well as a deputy as well, Robertson is still a key player for Liverpool.

But, thankfully, it looks like the 30-year-old will be back and available for the Champions League game with Bologna in midweek.

Ahead of that one, it looks like Liverpool’s only other injury worry is Harvey Elliott.

However, as the dust settles from a physical game at Molineux, there may yet be other, less positive updates to be had. Here’s hoping not.
