Feyenoord’s Dávid Hancko was linked with a move to Liverpool last summer, but no deal took shape.

Last month, the 27-year-old revealed he had held talks with Arne Slot over a move to Anfield in the summer, but the Reds weren’t in favour of signing him because of their transfer philosophy.

The centre-back joined the Dutch club from Sparta Prague in 2022 and was a key player under Slot, who left Feyenoord for Liverpool last summer.

Hancko continues to be a vital figure for the Eredivisie despite his failure to join Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2024. The player made 25 appearances in all competitions this season and recent reports have linked him to Juventus.

Soccer News cover comments made by De Telegraaf journalist Marcel van der Kraan, who insists the Slovakia international won’t be at Feyenoord beyond this season.

Van der Kraan is pleased with the attitude shown the defender this season, after a failed move to the La Liga side. Slot is a big fan of the Slovakian, but the journalists insist his age would be a concern for the Merseyside club.

"The thing is that he is already 27 years old, otherwise Arne Slot would probably have already taken him to Liverpool,” he said.

“The Slovakian is doing so well internationally and so many scouts have been coming to watch him for months now that it is very unlikely that he will still be able to be admired in De Kuip after this season. But only for the price that Feyenoord want and that will be above €30m."
