After such a good start to the season, Liverpool supporters will be dreaming of collecting the biggest prizes in the game this term.

Reds supporters have become used to winning over recent seasons, after seeing Jurgen Klopp’s terrific team of 2018-2022 sweep all before them.

By now, though, plenty of the players who made that Liverpool squad so successful have departed.

One of those was Fabinho, who was a vital cog in the Klopp machine up until a steep drop in form saw him exit for Al Ittihad in 2023.

Since then, Fabinho has continued to be a Liverpool fan from a distance and recently praised the way Arne Slot has handled life at Anfield so far.

So, when asked to put together an all-time XI of players he has played alongside during his career, it was not a surprise to see Fabinho’s team be extremely Liverpool heavy.

Fabinho picks all-time teammates XI

Liverpool are still very much looking for the right player to replace Fabinho in the midfield.

Nobody has come close to offering the protection he gave the Reds’ defence during his peak years patrolling the midfield.

As a result, few could argue with Fabinho picking himself to be the defensive midfielder when asked by One Football to put together his all-time XI. Plenty of the 31-year-old’s other selections are also very hard to argue against.

His great friend Alisson Becker is an obvious choice in goal, while Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are straightforward picks, too.

Thiago Silva is the only non-Liverpool player in defence, while Bernardo Silva joins Jordan Henderson in midfield.

Up front is where it was always going to be difficult for Fabinho. Realistically, he was picking three spots from five players. Having played with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, someone was going to be disappointed.

In the end Fabinho opted for Brazil superstar Neymar. Despite Mane’s ‘insane’ performances for Liverpool and Mbappe’s phenomenal talent, Fabinho leaves them both out.

Fabinho’s all-time XI by numbers

This would be an unreal team if they were all out on the pitch together.

It also just goes to show how highly Fabinho rated Henderson. He could easily have chosen a Casemiro or Thiago Alcantara, but he went with his former Liverpool captain.

Between them, there are some genuine Liverpool legends within Fabinho’s side, and they have a whopping 2,413 appearances for the Reds between them.

The majority of the 421 goals in the side have been scored by Salah, of course, but there is still plenty more to go around, too.

In some ways it’s a shame that Fabinho couldn’t have kept his level to see in the new era under Arne Slot. Now petering out at Al Ittihad, it’s unlikely that this team will ever change now.
