Mohamed Salah has been one of the most in-form players in world football this season as he continues to lead from the front for Liverpool.

The Egyptian has already racked up 21 goals and 17 assists across all competitions this season, which is an unbelievable record even by his lofty standards at Anfield.

Salah has been Liverpool’s most consistent player under Arne Slot and has shown no signs of slowing down despite being well into his 30s.

And now, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, has made a huge claim on the 32-year-old.

Frimpong has been one of the breakout stars from the Bundesliga since Xabi Alonso’s arrival at the Bay Arena, playing a pivotal role in his side’s title win last season.

The Dutch international primarily plays as a right-wing back in a 3-4-3 and is also capable of playing as a winger, making him an intriguing transfer option for clubs across the continent.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future uncertain, Liverpool have been linked with a move for Frimpong as they continue to scour the market for right-backs.

In November, there were suggestions that Frimpong’s agents were invited to Anfield as Liverpool and Leverkusen locked horns in the UEFA Champions League.

And now, the Dutch international has seemed to suggest that Salah is currently the best attacker in the world, as he ranked him above the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Bukayo Saka, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, among others.

Luis Garcia described Frimpong as a ‘fantastic’ player and he clearly seems to be a huge fan of Salah. With Liverpool reportedly interested in signing him, it remains to be seen if the pair become teammates in the coming months.

Do Liverpool need Frimpong?

While the electric Dutchman is clearly a brilliant player in his own right, the Reds would be best advised to look for alternatives if they want to sign a replacement for Alexander-Arnold.

Slot doesn’t want Liverpool to move for Frimpong because he feels his compatriot is not suited to playing as a right-back in a flat back four, which makes sense as he mostly plays a more advanced role for Leverkusen.

The Reds’ priority at this time will be to tie Alexander-Arnold down to a new contract as Real Madrid continue to press ahead with a deal to sign him for free if they fail to snap him up in January.
