Federico Chiesa will not be joining Napoli this month as Liverpool want to keep him in their squad.

That's according to journalist Valter de Maggio, via Area Napoli, who reports that he has 'direct news' on the Liverpool player.

“I have direct news on the player. The striker is doing well at Liverpool, so he won’t be a new Napoli player," Area Napoli quote him saying during an appearance on Radio Goal on Kiss Kiss Radio.

That, then, should put an end to any Chiesa rumours for the time being. This is the latest report indicating Liverpool won't be doing any business with him this month.

While it seems Napoli could be interested, particularly with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia heading to Paris Saint Germain, the word out of Liverpool has been very different.

A month ago, it seemed everyone had given up on Chiesa. His lack of appearances and fitness suggested he could be back in Italy this month. Now, however, all signs are that he's fit, ready to fire and a part of Arne Slot's plans.

That's now being felt in Italy and De Maggio and others are insisting there's nothing happening around him.

Of course, with two weeks of the window remaining there's plenty of time for that to change. But, for now at least, it seems Napoli can rule him out for January reinforcements.
