'I have seen enough': Alan Shearer shares fresh title prediction after seeing Liverpool beat Chelsea this weekend
Today at 10:00 AM
Liverpool’s excellent start to life under Arne Slot continued this weekend as they managed to see off Chelsea and stay top of the table.
A winning goal from Curtis Jones was enough for the Reds to get over the line and with Arsenal losing at Bournemouth, it was a big weekend for Slot’s side.
Up until now, many in the game have felt Liverpool might just not have enough when it comes to challenging both City and Arsenal at the summit.
But with City only just sneaking past Wolves and Arsenal’s defeat, Liverpool are now being talked about as genuine contenders.
And according to Alan Shearer, that is exactly how he sees things with the Reds right now.
Alan Shearer makes new title prediction involving Liverpool
Speaking on the latest episode of the Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer got onto the subject of Liverpool challenging for the title.
And after seeing them beat Chelsea, Shearer has now made a bold prediction about the Reds’ chances.
"I thought it (the title race) would be between Arsenal and City, but I have seen enough in Liverpool already this season,” Shearer said.
“If they can avoid injuries and keep the majority of that squad fit, they will be challenging those two definitely."
Liverpool may need one more in January
Arne Slot inherited a fine squad from Jurgen Klopp and there’s no doubt they have 15-16 players who are more than capable of going all the way.
However, if they are in the mix come January, then it might be wise for FSG to go out and back Slot and add one – maybe two – more to the squad.

Liverpool do have Mo Salah still scoring plenty of goals but there is an argument to be made that they still lack a killer in the number nine position.
And with Diogo Jota going off injured this weekend, the pressure will now go onto Darwin Nunez’s shoulders.
Come January, then, a new striker might be just what’s needed if the Reds are to push on.
