The January transfer window is well underway as Liverpool look to fine-tune their squad under Arne Slot.

The Dutchman oversaw a quiet first summer window at Anfield as he opted to stick to his guns and trust the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.

Federico Chiesa was the only player who walked through the door at Anfield, although they made a few notable sales like Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg, among others.

Liverpool loanee Ben Doak has emerged as a wanted man after his recent displays on loan at Middlesbrough and the Scottish national team.

And Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett has revealed the Reds’ stance on him as the likes of Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town prepare to step up their interest.

Doak burst onto the scene at Celtic and made his Liverpool debut under Klopp last season, although he was very much on the fringes of the squad and also had to deal with an injury.

He was loaned out to Middlesbrough for the 2024-25 campaign and it’s safe to say he’s made an impact for club and country.

Liverpool fans described Doak as a ‘generational’ talent after his performance against Croatia for Scotland as he gave Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol a hard time.

In the wake of his recent displays, Crystal Palace made a £15m offer to sign Doak, which was swiftly rejected by Liverpool.

And now, Dorsett claims Oliver Glasner’s side are plotting an improved bid alongside Ipswich Town, although Liverpool have no desire to sell in January.

He wrote on X: “#cpfc [Crystal Palace] preparing an improved bid for #lfc winger Ben Doak, I'm told, after initial offers rejected.

“Liverpool have no desire to sell, but Palace considering bid over £20m which is closer to the Reds' valuation. #itfc [Ipswich Town] also considering an offer. #boro obvs want him to stay on loan.

Doak’s stats this season

Doak showed glimpses of his potential last season in the few games he played, but his move to the Championship has done him a world of good.

The explosive winger has racked up seven goal contributions for Boro, which is a creditable record for a teenager playing in a league as competitive as the Championship.

Liverpool clearly have high hopes for the youngster and have made their stance abundantly clear.

However, it remains to be seen what happens if potential suitors meet their asking price for him, which is believed to be £30m.
