While it’s still early doors, the Liverpool faithful are beginning to dream of winning silverware at the end of the season, with the Reds competing on four fronts currently.
And Steve Nicol believes they have every chance of doing so as changed his mind on whether Liverpool can win the Premier League title.
Steve Nicol tips Liverpool to win the Premier League this season
Most fans and pundits tipped one of Manchester City or Arsenal to win the Premier League title at the start of the season and Nicol was no different.
While he initially predicted the Gunners to finish first and Liverpool to secure third spot, he believes the Reds will now go on to win the league after their stunning start to the new season, with Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea completing the rest of the top four.
"I would say very confident (on Liverpool winning the league),” said Nicol when asked about his former club’s title hopes.
“Part of the reason has to do with both Arsenal and Man City. They've got a nine-point lead over Arsenal and a five-point lead over City.
“The title is between those three and we're not quite sure what we're getting from Arsenal and City right now. Whereas Liverpool, we kind of know exactly what we're getting. Everything's settled in their house.
“The other two are just stumbling along and the longer they stumble, the harder it's going to be. If Arsenal lose this weekend and Liverpool win, they are going to be 12 points behind.
“Do you really think you can give this Liverpool side four games of a start and you still have to get through the whole campaign winning every game? That's why I've gone for them."
Gary Neville also changes stance on Liverpool
At the start of the season, the Manchester United icon claimed the Reds would struggle to cope after Jurgen Klopp. predicting them to finish outside the UEFA Champions League spots.
However, after Slot’s strong start, Neville feels Liverpool will secure a top-four finish this season, although he admitted that it’s still too early to talk about a potential push for the title.
