No one expected Liverpool to have such an unbelievable start to life under Arne Slot after he took over the reigns at Anfield from Jurgen Klopp.
The Dutchman has lost just two games across all competitions so far as the Reds lead the way in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, while they’re also alive in the domestic cups.
Ibrahima Konate has been a key player for the club in recent years and has unsurprisingly emerged as an indispensable asset under Slot.
And now, the Frenchman has shared whether he thinks the current Liverpool team is better than the one under Klopp during the 2021-22 campaign.
Ibrahima Konate names the best-ever Liverpool team he’s played in
The 2021-22 campaign turned out to be an eventful one for Liverpool.
They lost the Premier League title to Manchester City by the narrowest of margins and were also beaten by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, although they did win the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.
The Reds missed out on two of the biggest trophies, but there were talks of Klopp’s team completing a historic quadruple until the final week of the European football season.
And Konate feels the team from that season is the best he’s ever played with at Liverpool.
"No. I think when I came during my first season in 2021,” said Konate on Prime Video’s TikTok channel when asked if Slot’s team are the best he’s ever had at the club.
“The players who were there achieved a lot of great things. I think this one was the best squad, for me."
Liverpool are in for the quadruple this season
Clinton Morrison believes Liverpool are favorites for the Premier League title this season as they lead the way at the halfway mark.
They are also among the favorites for the Champions League and are also alive in both domestic cups, raising the possibility of winning silverware at the end of the season.
Talks of a potential quadruple may be premature at this stage and Klopp’s side in 2021-22 also fell desperately short in this regard.
But if Liverpool carry on in the same vein in the coming months, a historic season could well be on the cards for Slot if the stars align.
