Liverpool are flying high under Arne Slot, with the Reds currently sitting top of the Premier League table.

Slot has guided Liverpool to five Premier League wins from six matches, with a defeat coming against Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

The Reds are also off to a winning start in the UEFA Champions League thanks to their opening-day victory over AC Milan.

Next up for Liverpool in the Champions League is a tie with Bologna, with the clash set to take place under the lights at Anfield on Wednesday.

Bologna boss Vincenzo Italiano praised Liverpool ahead of the match, with the Italian side having drawn their opener 0-0 with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Danny Murphy says Arne Slot has transformed three Liverpool players

Slot's start to life on Merseyside has impressed many, particularly given how hard it is to follow in the footsteps of Jurgen Klopp.

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has highlighted the progression of three players under the Dutchman.

"I think his performances in the media have been really good, which is always easier when things are going well of course," said Murphy. "So we’ll see how the other side comes out when things don’t go so well.

"Probably the most impressive was when I saw him on the pitch at Old Trafford after the Man United game, discussing the tactical element. I was really impressed with that, really clear and concise and bright in the way he articulated himself.

"I think the biggest impact he’s made is something you see with your eyes, not that you hear. So if you talk about little things like Trent’s [Alexander-Arnold] defending, and his one-on-one defending, he looks sharp and quicker, and that’s got to be something to do with the coaching and the training.

"The tweak with [Ryan] Gravenberch moving into a more defensive role, and the athleticism he’s shown in that role, and the ease which he’s moved into it, which is something the manager’s done. I think also obviously there’s been some work on [Luis] Diaz getting into more dangerous positions, because his end product’s gone up.

"So all these little things that you see are where I judge him, rather than the ability to speak well in front of the camera, because speaking well in front of the camera is irrelevant if the goods aren’t being served on the pitch.

"So yeah, a really promising start. He’s accepted and talked about the fact that they’re yet to come up against real quality opposition, and that’s fair. Well I say that, the Milan away performance was against a decent team, and they made them look bang average."

How long can Arne Slot continue to shine at Liverpool?

Liverpool supporters will be absolutely delighted with the start that Slot has made to life in English football.

Aside from the shock 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest, there can really be no complaints from the Anfield faithful.

But now all fans of the Merseyside club will want Slot and his players to keep pushing, with things only going to get harder from here on in.

Injuries are already starting to creep in, with Diogo Jota missing Liverpool training ahead of the Bologna clash.

Fatigue will also start to kick in, with a lot of responsibility on the manager to balance his squad and keep his players fresh.
