Liverpool have shown over the years that they aren’t afraid of dipping into the January transfer market if the desired players were to become available.

Some of their best signings in recent years have come midway through the season, with Virgil van Dijk, Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge joining the club in January, among others.

Arne Slot’s side are in a strong position to win silverware in 2025 and could add players to their squad this month to aid their cause.

And if reports from Spain are to be believed, they are among several clubs interested in signing a Barcelona attacker.

Barcelona are in a precarious position financially and have faced issues with registering players over the years.

That didn’t stop them from signing Dani Olmo in the summer, though, with the Spain international joining the club for £50m after a successful Euro 2024 campaign under Luis de la Fuente.

The Catalan giants managed to register him in the squad at the time as Andreas Christensen’s injury replacement. Now, with the Dane back in action, they appear to have lost the battle and won’t be able to play Olmo for the rest of the season.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim Liverpool are among the clubs interested in his signature, with Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Manchester United also keeping tabs on him.

The Spanish attacker signaled his desire to remain at Camp Nou despite not being able to play for the rest of the season, but it remains to be seen how the situation trapsires in the coming weeks.

Olmo has been described as an ‘outstanding’ player by Julian Nagelsmann and would be an intriguing addition to the attack owing to his skillset and versatility.

Who else have Liverpool been linked with?

The attack is the Reds’ strongest suit on paper, but they have been linked with a handful of reinforcements in this position.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush has keen admirers at Anfield, while Rayan Cherki is a target for Liverpool as the Reds look to capitalise on Lyon’s financial woes.

The January transfer window is up and running and with the Reds competing on all fronts, it remains to be seen if they decide to take action in the coming weeks.
