Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future has emerged as a big headache for Liverpool as they face a race against time to tie him down to a new deal.

His current contract runs out at the end of the season and the 26-year-old would be free to negotiate with other clubs after the turn of the year.

Alexander-Arnold has attracted interest from Real Madrid, with the La Liga stepping up their pursuit of a new right-back after Dani Carvajal’s ACL injury.

And if reports are to be believed, Jude Bellingham is playing a key role in Real Madrid’s pursuit of the Liverpool vice-captain.

The pair have forged up a fruitful friendship having spent a lot of time together during international duty with England and were even spotted holidaying together after Euro 2024.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Bellingham has spoken to Alexander-Arnold about life in the Spanish capital as the Liverpool defender considers all his options.

The same report also states that the Reds continue to work on sorting out a new deal for the 26-year-old, playing down claims that they have lost confidence in retaining him beyond the current season.

Real Madrid also have Tottenham’s Pedro Porro on their shortlist, but Alexander-Arnold is believed to be their priority as they aim to convince him to leave his boyhood club.

Upcoming months are crucial for Liverpool

With Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also on the same boat as Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool have their work cut out to retain arguably three of their most important players.

The trio were mainstays in Jurgen Klopp’s all-conquering team and have begun the new season in fine form under Arne Slot as they find themselves at the top of the Premier League standings after seven games.

To put it simply, losing even one of Van Dijk, Salah or Alexander-Arnold would be a massive blow to Slot’s project and Liverpool need to do everything it takes to sort out new deals for them in the coming months.
