Rumour Mongering: Al-Hilal Contact Mohamed Salah Over Summer Transfer

If Liverpool can't or won't offer Salah a contract extension he can accept the Saudi Pro League could be a lucrative fallback option.
Mohamed Salah has made it clear his preference would be to remain at Liverpool beyond the current season, that at 32 years of age he's far from ready to take step down a level or otherwise consider winding up his career, and that he has more records to set in Red.
However, it's now two weeks into January. And Salah and Liverpool appear no closer to agreeing a contract extension. Which means clubs outside of England are free to talk to him and the superstar forward's future once again feels rather up in the air after most believed a positive resolution was inevitable back in December.
Into that landscape the past 24 hours have brought a revival of rumours of Saudi Pro League interest, with Al-Hilal in the market for a Neymar replacement and high-ranking Saudi officials sharing images of Salah done up in the club's kit.
Back in the summer of 2022, Al-Hilal offered Liverpool £100M+ to sign the player but were rebuffed. Now, outlets from Sky to L'Equipe have the Saudi club reaching out to the player's camp to at least let him know that if he doesn't renew at Liverpool they would very much like to sign him.
The consensus remains that a Saudi move isn't Salah's preference as he believes he can still compete at the highest levels, but signing for another English club would be difficult should Liverpool not offer him an extension he can accept and his options could end up limited.
In addition to the return of concerns regarding Salah's future that were probably inevitable once the club allowed the contract impasse to drag into January, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold's contract situations similarly appear no closer to a positive resolution today than at the start of the month.
