'Started talks': Liverpool make concrete move to sign 'fast' player after speaking to his agent - journalist

Liverpool look like they could be busy throughout the remainder of the January transfer window.
The Reds have so far stayed clear of adding to their squad during the winter market, perhaps choosing to focus on their ongoing contract problems instead.
But while it remains to be seen whether any of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah or Virgil van Dijk stay at the club, Liverpool already appear to be making plans for next summer.
Although supporters would no doubt like to see the Liverpool squad bolstered in the here and now, January can also be good for setting the wheels in motion for the end of the season.
And as Arne Slot looks to re-arrange his forward line, the Reds have reportedly taken a step towards doing that.
With all sorts of rumours swirling around Darwin Nunez, Liverpool have supposedly opened talks with Greek striker Stefanos Tzimas.
Liverpool open talks with Stefanos Tzimas
After such a disappointing season so far, journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that there is interest in Nunez from Saudi Arabian sides.
If the Saudi clubs are prepared to go big on the Uruguayan, then surely Liverpool could be tempted into a sale.
Either way, it looks likely that Nunez is not a part of Slot’s long-term plans, with another profile expected to be targeted in the number nine position. And according to German reporter Florian Plettenberg, Nuremberg’s on-loan striker Tzimas could be the man.
“FC Liverpool have started talks with 1. FC Nurnberg about a summer transfer for Stefanos Tzimas,” Plettenberg reveals on X. “There was a phone call a few days ago. LFC have also spoken to the player's camp.”

“The 19y/o striker is regarded as one of the brightest forward talents in Greece, having scored 8 goals this season for 1. FC Nurnberg,” he adds. “FCN are still planning to activate the €18m buy option with the intention of selling him directly in the summer, as previously revealed.
“FCN have set a price tag of €25m [£21m] + add-ons. Liverpool, as well as Chelsea, Brighton, Aston Villa, and many Bundesliga clubs, have been informed.”
Who is Stefanos Tzimas?
To many Liverpool supporters, the name of Tzimas will be an entirely new one.
Given that the 19-year-old is currently on-loan from Greek side PAOK in the German second division, that should hardly be a surprise.
Name | Stefanos Tzimas |
Date of Birth | 06/01/2006 (19) |

Club History | PAOK 2022-24, FC Nurnberg 2024- |
Career Appearances | 45 |

However, Tzimas appears to be highly regarded within scouting circles and it’s easy to understand why. With eight goals from just 10 Bundesliga 2 starts this season the powerful striker has been on fire.
The teenager is also PAOK’s youngster ever goal scorer and in 2023 was named by The Guardian as one of the 60 best young talents in world football.
“A two-footed striker, he is a quick thinker, fast and physically mature, which has meant he has been able to play against older opponents for some time now,” they surmised. It seems that Liverpool’s interest has been piqued.
