'The best one': Jamie Carragher says he absolutely loved a banner he once saw about Gary Neville at Anfield

The Anfield crowd has been in the spotlight once again this week after Liverpool’s win over Brighton on Saturday.
Having fallen behind during an uninspiring first-half performance, the Reds needed their fans to turn up in the second period.
As it so often does, Anfield responded. Liverpool still needed to do the job on the pitch, of course, but once the stadium started to feel a little feral, the goals needed to turn the game around became inevitable.
Someone who knows all about those special moments at the famous old ground is Jamie Carragher.
Carragher has claimed that Arne Slot does not want Liverpool to embrace the chaos, especially at home, but at times it becomes unstoppable.
Part of what makes Anfield so special – especially on European nights – are the banners that adorn the stands, in the Kop in particular. And Carragher spotted one recently that had him in stitches.
Jamie Carragher spots Gary Neville Anfield banner
Since his playing days, Carragher has become known as one of them most high profile pundits in England.
Along with Gary Neville, he has formed a heavyweight punditry partnership.
Having spent his whole career at arch rivals Manchester United, Neville is obviously no friend to Liverpool supporters.
His United allegiances also regularly lead to entertaining clashes with Carragher, with whom Neville enjoys something of a love-hate relationship.

That was evident in a video posted by The Overlap on Monday, in which Carragher, Ian Wright, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Aaron Lennon discuss footballers with moustaches as part of ‘Movember’.
“What about someone who wanted to grow a muzzy but couldn’t,” posed the Liverpool legend. “What about Gary Neville trying to grow one?
“The best one, there was a banner at Anfield for Gary Neville. [It said] ‘grow a proper muzzy you scruff’!”
Anfield answers back to Gary Neville
Saturday showed exactly what Anfield can still do to opposing teams and – more importantly – how it can win games for Liverpool.
Fabian Hurzeler was blown away by the Reds’ stadium having visited it for the first time and he joins a long list of managers to have been beaten by its power.
What was especially pleasing in that is that the Anfield atmosphere has been questioned lately.
Neville has bemoaned the lack of atmosphere at Liverpool as recently as August and this funny little banner is certainly one way to answer him back.
Carragher is wrong, though, the sign actually read: “Gary Neville grow a proper muzzy or shave it off yer scruff.” Funny stuff.
