Tsimikas Joins Liverpool's Injured List Ahead of Real Madrid Clash

Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, and Federico Chiesa are all nearing a return but not expected to be ready by Wedesday.
Liverpool will expect to be without five first team regulars when they take on Real Madrid on Wednesday in their fourth game of the Champions League's new look league phase with the European table topping Reds welcoming Los Blancos to Anfield.
That's the latest on the fitness and injury front after news broke that Kostas Tsimikas picked up a minor knock in training, an ankle issue that will keep likely sideline him for at least the coming week with a clash against Premier League number two Manchester City up next for the Reds following their mid-week European exertions.
Tsimikas joins goalkeeper Alisson Becker, right back Trent Alexander-Arnold, forward Diogo Jota, and lone summer signing Federico Chiesa on the injured list. Previous reports had the injured first team quartet all been pushing to return to action this week.
Wednesday, at the very least, is likely to come too soon for any of them but Arne Slot and his staff will be hopeful that at least a couple of his injured stars will be ready to make the bench against City on the weekend to potentially give the manager a few game changing substitute options.
On the positive side of things, after making the bench on the weekend, midfielder Harvey Elliott has continued to train with his teammates this week and will be expected to once again be an option for the Liverpool manager against Madrid and City.
