Why is Fulham vs Manchester United kicking off at 7pm on Sunday? Red Devils enforce bizarre start time after insisting on extra rest
Yesterday at 07:11 AM
Manchester United will travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham at a very unusual time this Sunday evening.
Ruben Amorim admitted that he may be in charge of the worst Man United team in the club's history after losing to Brighton.
That embarrassing 3-1 loss handed his side another home defeat and saw them drop back down to 13th in the Premier League table.
It also sapped the positive momentum that seemed to be building after good results against Arsenal, Liverpool and Southampton.
And now they travel to face Marco Silva's men who have impressed all campaign and will be looking to pile the misery onto the Red Devils.
Why is Fulham vs Man United kicking off at 7pm?
The game will be taking place on Sunday, February 26 and kick-off at Craven Cottage is very strangely scheduled for 7pm.
Typically on a Sunday, games will start at either 2pm or 4:30pm, with not too much deviation from that schedule if changes are made.
However, in this case, Man United have enforced a change meaning they are going to have to play at a later time than usual.
Originally, this fixture was pencilled in for a 12:30pm start on Saturday, February 26, with the game being broadcast live on TNT Sports.
But that didn't allow for enough rest and recovery time for the United players who are in European action on Thursday night against Rangers.
So another time of 12pm on Sunday was reportedly proposed until the Red Devils rejected that timing as they wanted as close to 72 hours rest as they could get.
Therefore, it was pushed back, and to avoid TNT Sports coverage clashing with Sky Sports' Sunday games, a 7pm kick-off time was selected.

Fulham vs Man United: Team news
Fulham's best team has become largely settled now, with former Arsenal midfielders Emile Smith Rowe and Alex Iwobi starting.
They'll likely be joined by Harry Wilson or Adama Traore in behind a rejuvenated Raul Jimenez while Reiss Nelson and Kenny Tete are still injured.
As for Man United, Alejandro Garnacho could come back into the line-up after taking a place on the bench against Brighton.
Lisandro Martinez was also a substitute for that game and he may return in place of Leny Yoro, with Harry Maguire impressing.
Marcus Rashford remains completely out of the picture while Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund compete for a regular starting spot up front.
Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are all set to remain in the treatment room for the foreseeable future.
