Rangers look set to finally appoint a new permanent chairman and CEO as the club looks to install a level of stability which has been missing all season long.

The Gers have been without a chairman since major shareholder John Bennett stepped down from the job in the September on doctor's orders.

This came against the backdrop of delays to a construction in the Copland Road stand, which forced Rangers to play their opening games at Hampden this season.

Rangers have also been without a CEO since James Bisgrove jumped ship and moved to Saudi Arabia with Al-Qadsiah before news about the botched Ibrox development broke.

Almost six months on from Bisgrove's exit, Rangers look to have finally found the man to replace him.

The duel appointment comes with Rangers promoting Nils Koppen to technical director last week as a major shake-up to the club's executive team continues.

Malcolm Offord set to become Rangers chairman

Rangers look set to appoint Greenock-born Conservative peer Malcolm Offord to the role of chairman.

That's according to the Scottish Sun, who are claiming that Offord is currently the 'leading contender' to replace John Bennett at Ibrox.

With John Gilligan in interim charge of the club as things stand, Offord is being primed to come into Ibrox to offer stability and steer the club through a rocky patch on and off the pitch.

Malcolm Offord is a current member of the House of Lords and carries the title of Lord Offord of Garvel.

Offord was previously Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department of Business and Trade from April 2023 to July 2024.

The 60-year-old's links to the City of London, where he had a 25 year career, are believed to be advantageous whilst Offord is a regent of Edinburgh University, from where he graduated in 1987, and a Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

Ex-Manchester United chief to become Rangers CEO

Rangers also look set to hire former Manchester United interim CEO Patrick Stewart as the club's new chief executive officer.

That's according to the Rangers Review, who broke the news following Saturday afternoon's dismal 1-1 draw with Dundee United at Ibrox.

The report claims that Stewart is now 'expected' to be appointed to the role after 14 years working for the Premier League giants across a variety of roles.

Stewart departed Old Trafford following the buyout from Sir Jim Rattclife, with the billionaire personally thanking the incoming Rangers CEO 'for his service'.

Aberdeen-born Patrick Stewart had an interim stint as Manchester United CEO earlier in the year as the club navigated the Ratcliffe takeover.

Starting his career in football working with UEFA's marketing agency for the Champions League, Stewart's role at Old Trafford was to create an 'in-house Legal & Regulatory function'.

This resulted in the 50-year-old signing off on everything from player contracts to lucrative commercial deals.

Stewart has also held a position at the Court of Arbitration for Sport since 2019 and is one of 14 arbitrators who deal with football-specific issues across the globe.
