Shots fired as King takes aim at director and makes regime change demand

When Dave King instigated regime change in 2015, it was through necessity because of the state that Rangers were in – nearly 10 years later and he is considering having to save his club once again.

Things aren't quite as drastic in that Ibrox is being upgraded rather than needing millions to bring it up to the minimum standard and revenue remains consistently high too.

The problem just now is that key positions remain empty and the departure of John Bennett sees Rangers even more rudderless than they were before.

Dave King wants to drive Rangers structure changes

King, as reported by The Rangers Review, is considering a return to Rangers and has said what every fan has been thinking for some time – where is the leadership and structure?

King, has a plan to turn things around:

"I don’t think we’re as bad as we were in 2015, but I think what we need is, let’s call it a two-year plan," King said. "We’ll be on a three, four, five-year plan. And I’ll say two maximum.

"One, to get control again of the commercial and operational issues of the club and get the right people actually running the club. I don’t think anyone’s running the club.

"I can’t think of a single person, there are no directors there. There’s no one ever at Ibrox. There’s no executive team.

"Get control of the commercial contracts that we sign so that when we commit liability to the future, we know what they are and we know what they’re based on.

"Get all the operational procedures and processes so the club is working behind the scenes on things the supporters don’t see. And actually come up with a viable way forward, including a funding plan that allows the manager to start to rebuild that squad."

Can King be the man to bring order back to Rangers?

King is right, without structure off the pitch, how can Rangers expect Philippe Clement to achieve success on it?

The manager had his hands tied in the summer, only able to bring in around £6m worth of transfer fees whilst paying in excess of £11m.

Not the rebuild that many had hoped for due to the squad that the Gers boss inherited.

Whether it is King or someone else, Rangers need to have – in Bennett's words – the “best in class” throughout the club.

What Rangers fans have seen this summer is as a result of previous boards not getting it right, making do, promoting from within and not getting individuals who are at the top of their trade.

King has done it once before, can he do it again?
