Sevilla have asked Southampton about a potential move for Juan Larios, who is also being watched by Real Betis.

That's according to Estadio Deportivo, who report that he could be a replacement for Brighton's Valentin Barco.

The newspaper explains that Sevilla director of football Victor Orta is currently working on potential replacements for any player that may leave their squad. Barco is one such player, with him expected to return to Brighton at some point this month.

Should that happen, they have a replacement lined up and that is Southampton's Juan Larios. The Spanish club have 'asked about the conditions' of the 21-year-old. He played for their youth team from 2011 to 2016.

That was before a move to Barcelona, then Manchester City and eventually Southampton who he joined in 2022.

This season he's found himself out of the picture for the Saints and wants a change of scenery. A return to Spain would be ideal and several clubs are following him closely.

Sevilla are one of them, but Real Betis are also keen. They're looking for a replacement for Ricardo Rodríguez. Real Valladolid have also shown an interest. It is Sevilla, though, who have made the most progress.

Sources close to the negotiations say they've already asked Southampton for their demands. Fortunately, these fall within their club's economic limits. Manager Garcia Pimienta is also happy as he trained Larios in Barcelona's youth academy.

Southampton are open to any option for him. A loan would suit Sevilla more, with Larios perhaps even taking the space vacated by Barco. At this moment it all depends on the Brighton man going back, at which point they can move for Larios.
