Sunderland have made a 'package offer' for Besiktas’ Semih Kılıçsoy to sign him from the Turkish side this month.

That's according to journalist Gökmen Özcan, via Asist Analiz, who reports that Sunderland have made a bid that includes a purchase clause.

The Black Cats have been busy strengthening their squad this month as they look for a strong second half of the season and push back to the Premier League.

They current sit fourth in the Championship but just five points behind leaders Leeds United after 28 games of the season. Only four points separate them from second placed Sheffield United.

They've already spent big to sign Ezo Le Fée on loan from AS Roma, with the deal including a clause which will see it become permanent if they are promoted. And it appears they are offering a similar deal to Besiktas for Kılıçsoy.

"Sunderland has a package offer for Semih," Asist Analiz report Özcan saying.

"Loan until the end of the season, purchase option + bonus if the team gets promoted to the Premier League. A total fee of around €20 million. Ajax is also interested. Their offer is Ahmetcan Kaplan + some money.”

Whether that's enough to convince the Turkish side to let the 19-year-old go this month remains to be seen.

He's been in and out of the side this season and struggled to find his best form, with just two goals and six assists in 28 games so far.

That could potentially tempt them into accepting Sunderland's offer, although much will depend on new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and how he assesses the player.

Given he's only just arrived in Turkey he may want more time to do so. Either way, Sunderland have put an offer on the table if he decides Özcan Kılıçsoy is not in his plans.
