Five Hornets players paid a visit to Watford General Hospital to deliver Christmas presents to children who will be spending the festive period on the Starfish Ward.
Club captain Daniel Bachmann, Mattie Pollock, Ryan Andrews, Moussa Sissoko and Anna Filbey all dropped in to hand out a selection of Watford goodies, as well as to spread smiles and goodwill to the patients and parents.
“A lot of us are parents so it’s always nice to do this around this time of year,” said Bachmann, an ambassador for the West Herts Hospitals Charity.
“It’s always a pleasure to come here to try and get a smile out of them and to deliver some presents, as well as to see the hard work all the staff do here.
“It’s always a great time of year for us to get involved with the community.”
The visit continues a tradition of Watford players visiting the hospital, which is adjacent to Vicarage Road.
Karen, a nurse on the Starfish Ward, said: “It’s been amazing.
“There’s been a lot of excitement among the patients and the staff.
“It boosts the morale of the team, and it boosts the morale of the children.
“It’s something that they really look forward to.”
Watford FC Women’s player Filbey added: “The visit was amazing.
“It was really nice to go and meet the children and really put smiles on their faces just before Christmas.
“We’ve walked from Vicarage Road to the hospital so you can see how close together we are.”
