Class Of 77-83: The Graham Taylor Matchday 2025

With the blessing of the Taylor family, Watford FC is pleased to confirm Saturday January 4, 2025, as the date for this season’s Graham Taylor Matchday.

GT’s first-ever signing for the Hornets, commanding centre-half Ian Bolton, has been working alongside the club to invite ex-players in ‘The Class of 1977-1983’ back as guests for matchday.

They’ll be introduced to the Vicarage Road faithful as part of a half-time ‘lap of honour’, with the intention that one or two individual players who’ve not been back for quite some time – if at all – get a chance to address the crowd before kick-off, too.

A roll call of names will be confirmed nearer to the date of the fixture, but already there’s a decent squad forming!

So please prepare to be at your seats by 2.45pm latest; not only to greet some Hornets’ heroes of yesteryear, but also of course to hold your scarves aloft as the teams take to the field – in tribute to the late, great Graham Taylor OBE, and everything he did to build the club as we know it today, one which is proud to continue his community traditions and values.

As was the case last season with Chesterfield FC, Watford will be extending the invite to raise scarves aloft in remembrance & tribute via Sheffield United FC to all their travelling fans joining us at The Vic on this very special matchday.
