Under-21: Bristol City 3-2 Watford

03/25/2025 11:55 AM
Watford Under-21s conceded in second-half stoppage time to fall to a 3-2 defeat against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
Raph Araoye gave the Robins the lead in the first half before Jonathan Lawson netted to level before the break.
Max Davies restored the hosts' lead before Ignacio Garcia-Romero equalised for the Hornets, only for Kai Churchley to win the game for the home side deep into added time.
This defeat extends Watford's winless run in the PL Professional Development League to seven matches.
Bristol City took the lead after 13 minutes, when Araoye headed home a free-kick delivered from the left at the back post.
However, Lawson restored parity for Watford before the break after dribbling past several players in the box and finishing well into the bottom corner.
The Robins retook the lead 12 minutes into the second half after Sam Morris read a long ball wrong, allowing Billy Phillips to chase it down and square it for Davies, who couldn't miss into an empty net.
Watford bounced back once again on 66 minutes, with Garcia-Romero on hand to smash home a volley after Jake Watkiss' initial shot was deflected.
This second equaliser would prove to be in vain, however, as three minutes into stoppage time Churchley cut in from the left-hand side before curling an effort into the far corner.
The Hornets will be looking to respond when they host Coventry City at Vicarage Road on Monday (March 31, 2pm KO) - tickets for the fixture are available at this link.
