Vata: "I Wanted More Today"

Rocco Vata said he is pleased to have the backing of Tom Cleverley after being brought on at half-time in the home stalemate against Queens Park Rangers.
The Ireland Under-21 international was part of a double substitution during the interval, coming on alongside Kwadwo Baah as the Hornets looked to recover from a slow start in the first half.
Watford looked a lot more dangerous after the break, with Vata in particular offering a threat down the left-hand side.
“I tried my best to do something for the team,” Vata told watfordfc.com. “But their defence was just too compact.
“They made it difficult for us to have a shot, but I feel like we were on top in the second half.
“I feel like I have been training well on the left wing.
“It is nice when we change to a front three and I’m wide and I have got space to take on the full-back, and create chances.”
The winger went on to explain that there were some elements of his performances he was happy with, but others where he felt he could have improved.
“He [Cleverley] just said ‘get on the full back and create chances, link up with our full back, and find pockets,‘” Vata said.
“I thought at times I did it well, but I didn’t get the chance to get enough shots off, and obviously score or create a chance for the team, so that was disappointing.
“I like to get at my man, I’ve got no fear so I thought that game suited me when I came on, but no chances created which is disappointing, but next time hopefully.
“I wanted more today but it was okay.”
Vata was also full of praise for the Vicarage Road surface and supporters, while also admitting how badly he wants to get his first goal in Watford colours.
“I feel like we have got the best pitch in the league,” he explained. “This helps a lot with the type of play that I like.
“When I want to dribble there is no ball going away from me.
“The pitch helps a lot, and there is a good reception from the fans which always helps as well.
“I think the fans can see I am dying for it [first goal].
“Hopefully the ball lands for me, or I create it myself.
“I am getting a bit frustrated that I cannot get it, but it will come in good time.”
